WHO WE ARE
The District Grand Lodge of South Africa, Eastern Division, operates under the authority of the United Grand Lodge of England (UGLE), representing English Freemasonry in the Eastern Cape. We are part of a global organisation that spans over 190 countries, promoting fellowship, self-improvement, and service to others.
Β
Our District has a long-standing history of integrity, charity, and leadership within the local community.
Β
Through our network of lodges, we bring together men from diverse backgrounds who share a commitment to living with purpose and making a positive contribution to society.
OUR MISSION
We align with the core values of the United Grand Lodge of England.
Our mission is:
βTo be recognised as a force for good, and to demonstrate integrity, friendship, respect, and service in all that we do.β
This mission shapes how we support one another as Freemasons and how we contribute meaningfully to the communities of the Eastern Cape.
WHAT WE DO
We offer a supportive environment for men to reflect, grow, and act with principle. Our members meet regularly in lodges across the District for fellowship, ceremonial work, and charitable planning.
English Freemasonry is not a religion or political organisation. It is a way of life grounded in ethical conduct, personal responsibility, and the desire to make a difference β both within and beyond the lodge room.
OUR FOUR CORE VALUES
These four principles are at the heart of Freemasonry
INTEGRITY
Acting with honesty, responsibility and honour
FRIENDSHIP
Building strong bonds of trust and mutual respect
RESPECT
Valuing all individuals regardless of background or belief
SERVICE
Giving time, energy and resources to support others
These values are lived out by our members and embedded in all that we do.
